Finally, after a string of not accomplishing what I set out to do animation wise I think I've had a breakthrough!

click on it!
to start out I was trying an octopus walk cycle, but it was seeming kinda flat and uninspired, so I turned the view and BAM!

click on it!
And I was able to use the information from the first so-so attempt to make this work. I likey!!!

Here is my latest entry in the CD thread (can be viewed here:
http://www.animationforum.net/forum/sho wthread.php?t=4077)

I arrived at this by accident, sketching out some characters. First an Englishman (I dont know why - dont ask). I liked how the body turned out, but I thought that maybe I'm not so happy with noses lately; so I tried a cartoon anatomy study with that body and no nose.
I like how that looked and then the new thread was posted for a singer, and I realized how much this looked like that 'crazy frog' character.

P.S. I also started an animation practice thread here: http://www.animationforum.net/forum/sho wthread.php?t=4061
I like the AF threads better because I can embed swf files there, but when I come up with some neat stuff I will post a link here.

My bus driver from AF's latest CD thread! Turned out kinda neat; I wanted his eyes to have the look of someone who had been up looking at nothing but road for far too long.

Here is my entry for the past AF character design challange. WOW, that was fun! My drawing ability sometimes seems almost like a completely separate being from me. When I try to sit down to create something specific, the results are usually mixed at best, but when I just start drawing without any direction or goal I am suprised by how well it turns out. It's like my best work is when I just get out of the way and let it happen. Sometimes I can nudge it towards what I want, and then it is pure gold! I need to aimlessly draw more.

Yowza!

Havent posted much lately. Just trying to find the time to draw is difficult enough, lately. Redid my avatar, and spruced up my link list. Check them out (when you have the time!)

I'm not too happy with the eyes or the mouth so much, but I am determined to quit being so much of a perfectionist. It takes me forever to animate something, and it dosent end up all that perfect anyway...so this is what it is! Kinda nice. Onward!

I finally figured out how to convert swf to a (fairly) decent mpeg! YA!
hehehe...now I'm off to animate!

Well, I've decided I need to embrace my inner terrible animator to be able to improve! So here is Trembles. He is my new character for practicing animation. This was done in plasticanimationpaper, and is just frame by frame animation without bluelines or snapping to objects. Kinda wobly, but I guess that I was lucky to keep his eyes from slowly sliding off his face!

Another angle from the same scene - at night. This was harder than I thought. Drawing the original was fun enough because it was new. This time I had to change everything, but keep the same look and feel. It's like a new drawing is born of pure inspiration, but to do it again is a lot more determination! :0
